WHAT IS 'THE PARK FOOTBALLER'?

The Park Footballer is a modified men's health and well-being program based around social soccer, created for men who for one reason or another are unable to play or commit to a regular team sport, yet still have a passion to be around, involved with and participate in a game they love.

Our focus is on creating new experiences (social games) that anyone with a interest in the sport can get involved in, no matter of their skill level, knowledge of the game, experience, health or injuries. We want to bring together those who have a common interest in football to get in the game and create a new social way to play and participate in a game we love. A way that is is 100% focused on fun, it is more flexible, has less chance of getting hurt and has far less commitment  required  than traditional club or league models.

And AGAIN we want to ensure this is clear - if you take your football seriously, or you are super competitive then THE PARK FOOTBALLER IS NOT the program for you!

OUR WHY

‘To organise and provide modified social football games, programs and activities in a fun, flexible and friendly environment so that we can help people connect through their shared passion for the game, be healthier both physically and mentally while helping our community to be a better place’.

We think social football (soccer) is perfect for breaking down barriers and perceptions within a community; it is great for developing new friendships, a platform for meeting new people from all backgrounds and cultures that otherwise you may not have taken the time to get to know.

Then comes the health benefits (both physically and mentally) of getting off the couch and active, by having a social game of sport to look forward to each week. We love our football and we would all love the opportunity to get the passion back to play the game just like when we were kids or teenagers.

At the Park Footballer our aim is to bring people together who love social football and want to play modified games or just get more active on a regular basis with other like-minded social 'park footballers'. Some of our best experiences in life have been through football; it’s now time to create some new football experiences!

HOW DOES A PARK FOOTBALLER SESSION RUN?

01062022.jpg

Firstly the Park Footballer has no commitment; meaning if life gets in the way you do not need to worry as you wont be letting down a team or forfeiting the teams game.

Players arrive at the venue / pitch approx. 10 minutes prior to the kick off time; this allows time for players to stretch, warm up, kick around and also chat and banter amongst the group.

  • The Park Footballer program coach / captain will then allocate players to teams on the night shortly before kick-off by giving out bibs.

  • Before kick off, the coach / captain will take all players through a basic warm up and stretch then give any final detail for the game ahead and then start the clock.

  • Games are generally made up of 2 x 20 minute halves with the 1-2 minute break between to grab a drink. This may vary on the day but generally speaking at least 40 minutes of football / activity will be played each session.

KEY TIMES ON THE NIGHT

  • Arrival time: 5-10 minutes before your scheduled game time is ideal.

  • Teams allocated & Group Warm Up: First 10 minutes allocated to this, gentle group warm up involved jogging and stretching.

  • Kick Off: Once the warm up is done, teams make their way to their pitch and games kick off.

  • Finish: Approx. 50 min to an hour or play then your done.

HOW MUCH DOES A SESSION COST?

Games / sessions are just $10 per person.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO YOU NEED?

Again this is social football, more like what you played with you mates at school so special equipment or the latest / greatest boots are not required.

First thing you need is a good attitude and show positive sportsmanship at all times to play with The Park Footballer!

Runners or any type of futsal shoes are generally fine - footy boots are recommended also be worn for when games take place of the main outdoor synthetic pitch. With the runners, just ensure they have suitable grip on the bottom and are good for playing football in all weather. A comfortable shirt and shorts you feel comfortable playing sport in - playing bibs are provided on the night.

Shin guards are optional if you wish to wear them you can but are not essential in this social football setting.

We recommend all players bring a drink bottle with them. Hats and sunscreen also recommended during warmer months.

We allow players to wear smartwatches when participating if they wish to track their activity.

All jewellery (other than flat wedding bands) must be removed before playing.
